There are many ways to contribute to the support of the NAFMC.
The National Air Force Museum of Canada Foundation (to give it its full name) is a provincially-incorporated not-for-profit organization with the sole object of raising money to support the Museum. It is a registered charity (CRA number 89489 3916 RR0001.) Payroll deductions can also be made to the Museum through the United Way under the category of “other”.
Donations can be made to the museum directly through Canada Helps, an organization which allows donors the ability to donate to registered charities on-line, through an easy, secure transaction. You will receive an e-receipt within minutes of your donation, which you can save and print out at any time. Simply click the icon on the left to go directly to Canada Helps.
ChangeIt is an innovative new program in which a donor’s everyday purchases made with ordinary payment cards (credit or debit) are rounded up to the nearest dollar; the round-up amounts are aggregated monthly and remitted to the Foundation, which issues the appropriate tax receipt to the donor at the end of the year. Please go to the ChangeIt website for more details, to register your payment card(s), and to specify the Foundation as your charity of choice. The rest is painless (well, almost – you won’t miss the small round-up amounts, and you will be making a significant donation to the Foundation over the course of the year).
Please note that at this time (January 2015) not all payment cards will work with ChangeIt. The program will be expanding.
The Museum itself is a registered charity under the rules of the Canada Revenue Agency, and direct financial donations, which are tax-deductible, are always welcome. Also, donations of relevant artefacts – from complete aircraft to personal items of historical significance – may be accepted, subject to curatorial discretion and agreement on value if a tax receipt is wanted by the donor.
