CT-128 Expeditor
Mk. III TM, 1560
The Beechcraft Expeditor (RCAF designation CT-128) was also known as the C-45. Built in Wichita Kansa it is a twin engine light transport that flew with the RCAF for over three decades. Used as a basic multi-engine trainer throughout the fifties and sixties, the Expeditor was also used in *light transport, communications, navigation, and search and rescue roles. It was affectionately known by a variety of names such as the “Bug Smasher”, “Twin Harvard”, Wichita Wobbler”, or “Exploder”. Originally purchased in 1941, a total of 398 aircraft were operated before being retired in 1972.
The Museum’s Expeditor, 1560, is a Mk III TM. It was taken on strength at RCAF Station Trenton on the April 28, 1952. Flown by a number of units including Central Flying School, No 103 (KU), Training Command, and Air Transport Command, it eventually was sold to Ontario Central Airlines in the late 1960s. Eventually, it went on static display at the entrance to the Southport Airport in Portage La Prairie Manitoba for over 30 years. In 2012 it was acquired by the Museum and transported from Manitoba to Ontario in 2013. It is painted as it appeared on the ramp at RCAF Station Trenton in 1959 operated by Air Transport Command.
